I'm Lucy.Painter. Mama. Learner. Always figuring it out.Art is my reality. It's what I see, how I explore, and how I heal.
Artist Statement
My work is an honest commitment to a learning process through visual understanding and peaceful protest. I often use symbolism, color harmonies, vulnerable lines, and truthful narratives in an attempt to spark questions about larger modern themes. Intuitive and energetic in nature, my work reflects a constantly evolving thirst for exploration and knowledge. My most recent work examines women's work and generational healing through the medium of paint and the exploration of textiles. The art I make serves as the vehicle in which I explore my history and investigate my future. It roots me in this time and space. It is how I process the world we live in and my means of healing.
Bio
Hi, I'm Lucy Boland — a painter, a mama, a learner, and someone who shows up to the studio most every day trying to just be herself.
I paint all sorts of things. Landscapes, figures, experiments, obsessions. My work tends to find its way to women's stories, generational healing, color harmonies, and quiet truths about the world we're all living in together.
I've been making art in Spartanburg for years. These days you'll find me at my studio on Dunbar Street — painting, experimenting, and figuring it out.
That's enough. That's everything.
